Dana Provides a Full Schedule of Workshops for the Spring

Please join us in the Dana Classroom for Dana's Spring workshops! Offered 2 times per month, these workshops give instruction on PubMed and EndNote as well as Zotero and finding Clinical Practice Guidelines. These sessions are open to everyone at UVM and UVM Medical Center. Preregistration is not required.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptops to the workshop so that they can work along with the instructor. See full list of sessions below.

Introduction to Zotero
When: February 14, noon - 1:00 pm
Instructor: Gary Atwood, MSLIS
This workshop will teach you how to add references to your library, manage those references, and automatically insert citations into your paper and build your bibliography

Introduction to EndNote for PC Users

This workshop will teach you how to export citations from popular online databases, manage those citations, and automatically insert them into your paper or manuscript

PubMed: Advanced Search Strategies

Learn how to turn your so-so PubMed searches into virtual powerhouses by exploring sophisticated strategies and techniques. We'll discuss finding full-text, author searching, and setting up email alerts in MyNCBI. Bring your questions and stumpers!

Move beyond the basics of creating an EndNote Library. Learn how to collaborate with others, manipulate formatting in citations and bibliographies, and harness EndNote's functionality to better manage your literature.

Finding Clinical Guidelines for Daily Practice

Although there is no magic bullet for finding clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) in the literature, there is a simple template that can be used across many databases to be successful. This workshop will focus on uncovering CPGs in three Library resources: PubMed MEDLINE, CINAHL, and ClinicalKey.
